Singer-songwriters are artists who write, compose and perform their own songs and material themselves. Other artists may employ others to write or compose songs for them but singer-songwriters take on all three roles. A guitar or piano is typically the instrument used by this type of artist.
Conventions-
Music videos are usually filmed in an isolated setting and tend to show the artist at one with nature. This matches the relaxed vibe that a singer-songwriter usually brings. The lyrics of these type of songs tend to be personal about either the artist themselves or topics that may be close to the heart of the target audience and this is why they sell so well. Singer-songwriters tend to dress in whatever they feel comfortable in. Unlike other genres, this is a very stripped back one. The artist decides themselves how they want to portray themselves so everyone has their own personal style.
THIS IS THE GENRE I WANT TO WORK WITH
