Preliminary- Kanye West Ne-Yo Keri Hilson Knock You Down

For our preliminary we had to decide on a music video to analyse shot by shot and then recreate. We were given a range of music videos to choose from and finally my group which included Izzy Humphriss, Tammy Harris and I chose the song 'Knock You Down' by Keri Hilson and Ne-Yo and Kanye West. We chose this song because of the difficulty of it.  As there is a split screen throughput the majority of the video we knew it would challenge our ability when it came to editing and we wanted to test ourselves.  We analysed a full minute of the music video from 3:00 minutes to 4:05.  We didn't think it would be appropriate to analyse the first minute of the video because of the nature of it as we were aware we were going to have to later recreate the video.  Izzy analysed the first 20 seconds from 3:00-3:20, Tammy analysed the shots between the timings of 3:20-3:40 and I analysed the remaining 20 or so seconds from 3:40-4:05.  We decided this was the most time effective way to analyse the clip we had instead of all doing the whole minute.  This worked well.  Our analysis involved the type of shot that was used in the frame, the lyrics in the shot and who was singing at this time.  This was done to aid us in the construction of our recreation so that everything was cut down into more manageable pieces of information.

Below is the video we are recreating and the shot by shot analysis carried out by Tammy, Izzy and I.
